You Can See Everything: cast e directors
Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim direct the documentary, with Elizabeth Holmes appearing as herself.
You Can See Everything is co-directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim — a pairing nobody predicted and everybody now talks about.
Nathan Fielder
Fielder is best known as the creator and star of Comedy Central's Nathan for You and HBO's The Rehearsal, shows built around his deadpan persona inserting himself into real people's lives with elaborate, uncomfortable schemes. This film is his feature directorial debut, and it pushes his signature move — moving into someone's life with a camera — into entirely serious territory. In the trailer, his interviewing style is on full display: flat, persistent, quietly confrontational. When he asks Holmes, "You really feel you did nothing wrong?" it lands precisely because of who is asking.
Lance Oppenheim
Oppenheim is an established documentarian whose credits include Some Kind of Heaven and The Python Hunt. He brings the observational craft: the patience for long-form filming, the eye for how institutions and communities work. The collaboration makes sense on paper — Oppenheim's documentary rigor grounding Fielder's provocation — and early reviews suggest the combination produced something neither could have made alone.
Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans
Holmes is the film's subject: founder of Theranos, convicted of defrauding investors, sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison. Her partner, William "Billy" Evans, appears throughout — it was the couple who issued the original invitation to the filmmakers. The film also reportedly features appearances connected to the wider story, including Amanda Seyfried, who famously portrayed Holmes in The Dropout. For the full backstory on Holmes, see the context post.
Behind the camera
Producers include Fielder, Oppenheim, Tatiana Bears, Maggie Ambrose, and Jack Davis. Cinematography is by David Bolen, editing by Adam Locke-Norton, and the score by Ari Balouzian. Production companies are listed as A24, To Be Formed, and Blow Out Productions, with A24 handling distribution.
Why this pairing matters
Holmes is famous for controlling her image — the black turtlenecks, the deepened voice, the carefully staged persona. Fielder is famous for dismantling people's self-presentation by simply staying in the room and asking the next question. That collision is the film's engine, and it is why the trailer alone generated so much discussion.
